The Call to Religious
Life
Everyone
has a vocation. A vocation is gift from God. For some it is marriage;
for others, the single life; for still others, it is life in the priesthood
or religious life as a sister or nun. Each vocation is graced and calls
us to consider our giftedness and how we can put ourselves and our gifts
at the service of God and others. Through the way that best suits us,
we can become our best selves.
How
do I know if I have a vocation to Religious Life?
The best way to answer this
question is to listen to your heart, to pray from the depths of your
soul, and to talk to someone else who knows you well.
Possible questions to reflect
on are:
- Do I find
myself wondering if there is something more to life?
- Do I have
a desire to know God more deeply?
- Am I drawn
to prayer and participation in the liturgy?
- Have I taken
an active role in the Iife of the church? (perhaps as a catechist,
Eucharistic minister, etc)
- Do I feel
called to live out the Gospel?
- Do I desire
to live a simple lifestyle?
- Do I feel
called to share life, ministry and spirituality in a religious community?
- Do I feel
an affinity with the history, spirituality, vision of the Sisters
of the Cross and Passion?
If you answer "yes" to most
of these questions, you may be interested in talking with a Sister of
the Cross and Passion.
